A Drive with a View

A Drive with a View

Today, I fed my addiction to golf by playing a round on one of my favorite Puerto Vallarta golf courses, The Marina Vallarta. As the name implies, this beautiful course is located in the heart of the marina district and is only a short 15-minute drive from Villas in Vallarta. Designed by the famous golf architect, Joe Finger, it is truly a course with something for every golfer.

While offering some challenging holes, the Marina Vallarta is a manageable 6,700 yards from the tip of the blues (72.8 rating), thus assuring a good time can be had by everyone from golf enthusiasts to weekend only hackers. The course offers full practice facilities, including a great driving range and a putting green that will get you ready for the money putts. The hacienda style pro-shop stocks everything you could require, including a full line of clubs, shoes and balls.

While offering contrasting views of the scenic Banderas Bay on one side and the enchanting jungle of the Sierra Madres on the other, Marina Vallarta GC is simply a fun course to play. My favorite hole is the signature par-3, #13. It is a stunning 206-yard hole that offers ocean front views leading to a bunker lined green that is often made even more challenging by the cooling ocean breeze. Depending on the time of day you play, you can hit anything from a six-iron to a three-wood off the tee.

And one of the best features of Marina Vallarta is the reasonable green fees. This lovely course can be played (depending upon time of day and month of year), for prices ranging from $67-$132 (U.S.), which includes your green fees, cart and caddy. Brand new rental clubs are available for $52/round. And don’t forget the 19th hole at Marina Vallarta, a welcoming restaurant and lounge offering locally inspired food and drinks.

To golf Marina Vallarta or anyone of the five world-class courses in the area, just call or stop by the Villas in Vallarta Concierge. He will be happy to make all of your arrangements, including tee times and transportation. Enjoy!
